After watching the videos from fellow scuba divers I've decided I have to have a Hero3! I was told that the Surf Edition is the one with a waterproof housing. Then someone else said they are all waterproof. So I thought I better ask for sure before I order one.

I will be using it for diving but will use it mostly on the motorcycle.

So my question is....do I need to order a special surf edition or will the 'plain' Hero3 housing be waterproof?

You can buy both the normal edition or the surf edition. They both come with the waterproof housing. The backdoor of the GoPro can be changed and the GoPro actually comes with several backdoors.

The only difference between the normal edition and the surf edition are the mounts it comes with. Just have a look which mounts you think will be more useful for you. The surf edition comes with a special mount to mount your camera to a surf board.
