I still have a couple of GP7B cameras which I use for different angles, but I haven't used them for a couple of months. I just checked one of my battery bags, and the blue top 7 batteries have swollen for no apparent reason. All the other 7's are fine, even all my old 3 and 4 batteries.

All my later model batteries are fine too... was there a manufacturing fault with some of those blue tops? And no, there were not overcharged, or overheated, and no they were not charged unless fully drained. I even have GoPro 2 batteries that are still in good working order. These are the only ones that have swollen.

Thanks.

Thanks.

GoPro battery are not made by them, Nor the USB cable. We can not answer for GoPro, we can only offer our opinion. Battery is well protected behind a case, cell or cells go bad, storing the battery can not exceed 20 degrees Ferienheite, funny thing is camera produces 145 degrees and. Properly charging and discharging should be done, common i life is about 500 cycles every time you plug in with the cam the battery is getting a partial charge, decreasing the cycles Just my thoughts, why batteries may swell. Made cheaply

LOL, yeah, I know all that. But I have GP batteries that go back to V2, and we're now at V12, and not one battery has gone bad on me ever. It's ONLY the blue batteries for the GP7's etc, ergo, again, I was asking if there was a defect in that particular series of batteries. And, just FYI, it's not only the batteries that are made cheaply. Not that long ago they sent me a replacement camera, and it was insured for 50 bucks.

Perhaps you didn't read my post? I wasn't asking what to do - obviously they get disposed of (safely) and replaced. The question I asked read: "Was there a manufacturing fault with some of those blue tops?"

I think it would pretty obvious not to use them, and even difficult because the cams don't have much wiggle room.
