Hi.
New to Gopro's and the forum
I'm thinking of maybe getting a second hand, or refurbished Gopro5.
I know little about them, apart from someone recommending the 5 black.
And I wondered if you guys could advise me on it/them, please?

cheers

Bob

if you dont care about the stabilization, then 5 is perfect. But otherwise i would go for used hero 7.
side note: if you choose the 5, try to find the hero 2018 for much cheaper than the 5 and just change the firmware to unlock the features from 5. its same camera.

As I gotten so used to the Hero 8, the interface is top notch by far, and EIS is a Killer. you can get these on sale dor a good 300 plus but like said ...

anything shot on gopro 5 WITHOUT gimbal will be shaky, doesnt matter if you stick it to your head or your ankle.
The difference in price is not that big, go for the 7 and you wont regret.

One good reason I said watch video's at Youtube.

compare the Hero 7 to the Hero 8:
EIS Hero 8 wins On, high and Boost, lets not forget Slow mo stab that he Hero 7 does not have, or high and boost. lets also take note of Timewarp and or hyperlaspe Hero 8 can do 5 min, and 1 hr interval, hero 7 60 second tops

Oh let me stop because we're not talking about the hero 8 but the Hero 7 and Hero 5. $350.00 Hero 8 not matured, but hte Hero 7 is matured, will not get any further updates as the last was fw 1.9. I continue to watch a video. before I decide

Hero 5 has the old chip hero 7 short cuts are not offered the Hero 8 has shotcuts, profiles a whole lot of camera if asked

so that said not my $$$ but I bet it on the hero 8
