Hi,

I'm new here.

Am working with GoPro hero 5 for an art project. We want to do time lapse photos of a large painting as it progresses. The camera is mounted on the ceiling and we're using a cell phone + Capture app to remotely monitor and control the camera. We're shooting in linear FOV mode.

Running into problems:

On the camera's display and cell phone screen we see an image field that is much larger on all sides than the actual area of the painting. We've done this intentionally to account for the cropping that needs to happen to go from 4:3 aspect ration in time lapse photo to 16:9 for the final video output.

BUT

When we look at the photos actually shot, we see a 4:3 area that is much smaller and crops out large parts of the painting.

Why is this happening? How can we correct it?

Thanks for any suggestions.
