Is it possible to connect the camera via a cable and transfer files straight to my Google Drive or Photos account to my phone or an iPad? I was just on vacation and it would have been nice to upload and arrange into an album to share. I know I can get the app but lost video early on and don't trust it.

Thanks for responding. Do you know if you can transfer straight from the GoPro to folder or Google folders? I would like to be able to assemble an album in Photos at the end of a day without having to wait until I get home. Straight from the GoPro to Photos in the cloud would be ideal.

Did you find a way to do it? I have android but want to do the exact same thing, go from camera direct to cloud through the phone, preferably connected with a cable so that I dont need to fiddle with the micro SD.
Most instructions on the net assume that you want to offload data from the phone to a USB connected device, not the other way around....

You'll need a USB-C cable to connect your phone or camera to your device. A two-pin, "charge-only" USB cable won't work.
  1. Sign in to your device.
  2. Plug the USB-C cable into your device, then into your phone or camera.
  3. Select the photos or videos and upload them to Google Drive/Photos.
