I’m sure there’s probably a thread around here somewhere of the issues I’m running in to. I’ve got an 8 black and for some reason my computer doesn’t recognize when I plug it in. The only way I can seem to upload media off of it and onto my computer is by taking the micro SD card out, putting that into a reader, then manually moving the files over into a storage device. I was using GoPro Quik but it’s no longer compatible with windows?
I’m just looking for the easiest way to plug my GoPro in, pull the media off of it, and store it so I can access and edit it. Any recommendations on what might be the issue or better applications to use? Thank you in advance!

basic computer skills are needed, we do not just hit the on and go. you will need to go to your settings and go to disk manager and go to the portable drivers. and reset. d you know how? if not , Ask?

It sounds like you are experiencing difficulty connecting your GoPro Hero 8 Black to your computer. Ensure that your GoPro is powered on and in USB mode. You can do this by swiping down on the GoPro home screen and selecting "Connect" > "USB Connection" > "GoPro Connect". Make sure that you have selected the appropriate USB mode for your computer, such as MTP or PTP.
Also, If you have a micro HDMI cable, you can connect your GoPro directly to a monitor or TV with an HDMI input and transfer files that way. And, Try using a different computer to see if the issue persists.
