Just got my Gopro 7 Black, here are some newbie questions, more to follow, so please excuse !!

The unit is waterproof up to 10m deepth, so I presume, it is out of the box, without any additional covers? I only intend to use it for snorkeling, not diving.

Please confirm, before I submerge test it at home.

cheers

i dont know how much they improved it in 7 black ., but there were cases were users drowned their Hero 5 or 6 , it is reasonably waterproof as long as there is perfect seal around battery doors and input doors which is too high of a risk for me. I use diving case even for snorkeling because it wasnt the cheapest camera.
PS: Dont buy the cheapest ones from china, they use cheap plastic in front of a lens which will degrade image quality too much.

Welcome aboard.

waterproof it is if the doors are properly closed, the Hero 7 has been improved they corrected the rubber membrain for the speakers, and changed the port door and bat door seals from a off white t o dark gray. If I were t odunk I get a extended warranty and have that as added protection. I also like said use a super suit if I am in the water they both can leak, and nothing like salt water getting in and destroying your 400.00 investment.

it is up to 33 feet and you must lock the screen while water will change the display and settings read up on the PDF file of gopro the manual and learn about your camera. if uncertain of the feature and functions. you can also look for polarPro filters for under-water

good luck and have fun filming

Do you mean I should lock the exposure settings? Or the screen display brightness ?

If other parameters, why would they change under water?

Thanks for the tips.

shutter and mode gets to camera settings in water, and swipe down and press lock to prevent issues.
