I just bought a Hero4 silver yesterday. I've been fiddling and experimenting with the GP and the GP Studio software and it doesn't look like what's in the tutorial videos I see online. The main difference is the story board at the bottom center of the screen. It's just blank. No partitions for video, text and audio.

I know this can't be that complicated. I load the videos and convert it in the 1st step. When I'm in the second step to edit... I load a template... Nothing shows up in the story board. It's the same for a blank template as well. Even when i drag and drop my video into the story board (blank, just an empty black box) and nothing happens.

I've deleted GP Studio and reinstalled it. I'm running windows 8.1..... I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Please help.

I think it may really be a problem you should see the video storyboard just like that.

Did you downloaded the GPS on gopro web site ?

Is it the latest version of it ? 2.5.3

Did you installed the latest drivers on your computer ?

I can confirm that the latest version is 2.5.3 and my screen looks like Fox Hound's. You might need to update your video card drivers. If you have a laptop, check with the website of the laptop manufacturer to locate and download the latest graphics driver.

Here are the page links for common graphics card manufacturers:
NVIDIA: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
ATI from AMD: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
Intel: http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/

If you have a Mac OS X Click the Apple logo>Select Software update>Install any Mac OS X updates available. These include graphics driver updates.

So Im thinking it might be the graphics card. Its an old radeon 7xxx legacy card. In its day it was a beast but not anymore I guess. I installed the most recent driver and GP Studio is till doing the same thing. I don't understand. It plays movies in 1080p and some really taxing pc games (Sim City, Medal of Honor) with out a problem.

Click on that button that says Load Template and you should get the popup screen that displays all the different options to choose from. Hope that helps.
