Hello everybody,
I am a new member.
Do I have to get a Max Lens Mod for my Hero 11 Black for the horizon lock to work when mounted on a helicopter?

Horizon Lock is not available at all settings : GoPro Support

You may need to recalibrate your camera - seems like it's trying to work but just not getting there!
Thank you Ifti for your reply.
The setting used is 5.3K/30fps, it is supposed to be okay for the horizon lock mode.
Recalibrating and factory reset are the same thing?
I will try to 4K and 2.7K settings as well, I am maybe asking too much from the camera.
Regards from Japan
By the way, it works in a straight and level flight attitude (as expected), things are getting messy with turns and when filming from the helideck, the camera doesn't follow up with the boat's pitch
that is where a max lens is applied horizon lock is what 40 plus degrees only 20 plus each pitch not 40 per pitch side

Hero 11 should be able to do full 360 Horizon Lock without needing the Max Lens Mod - the mod is only needed if you want to use the unsupported frame rates that the default camera cant do.

OP - just checking, you're definitely using the Horizon Lock option, and not Horizon Levelling?

Unrelated - Why was the guy manually spinning the rotors by hand towards the end??

Yes, the Linear + Horizon Lock option is selected (5.3K/30FPS).

The main rotor blades are spinned backward post flight as to reduce unwanted carbone deposits (cocking) in the engine. Smoke can be seen coming from the exhaust at this time.

that means you are not going to be 360 horizon what I was trying to say
Thank you both for your feedbacks, I am not planning to do aileron rolls with the helicopter but wonder how this guy got the horizon perfectly locked when he did it (@ 0:30):

Great video, but I had a hard time watching it due to my acrophobia. How did you mounted the outside camera to the helicopter?
Thanks, the camera is mounted on the tail skid and at the top of the vertical stabilizer

No, but there is 100% a glitch with the Horizon leveling software dating back to the 9. Depending on what you read, It has something to do with either vibrations, panning, etc. Seems like more GP11 users are noticing it. I had hoped the 11 would take care of it but it hasn't. And btw.. the Alps video, just guessing... but they probably used post processing either with ReelSteady or GyroFlow to handle the horizon lock and smoothness.
