Hi! Might be getting a GoPro soon

I'm looking to get into some light off road/off highway driving and I'm looking to record those drives.

I was thinking a GoPro would be best, and it sounds like it would, but they're looking to be more than I'd like, especially if they end up just sitting in the closet after a couple of uses.

I'm looking at maybe older models, the Hero 8 or 9 maybe, but then I start looking at other brands on Amazon all together.

Are there any models that I should maybe stay away from? I'd like 4K60 and image stabilization. Other than that, I don't think I have any other requirements.

Welcome to the forum, the 8 is a good choice, the 9 has no big progress and the 10 is also a good one.

If I were to buy a camera I get eh DJI Action 3 a lot less, does a good job capturing the shot and if I had a second choice the Insta 360 One RS
Both cameras will be under or about $300.00. do you edit all the time, if not you got your answer

Someone else had mentioned buying a used one on Keh. I'm seeing the Hero 9 on there for $200 but Best Buy, Amazon, and GoPro is selling it brand new for $250. Best Buy says 15 hours left for that deal.

Is this a sign for me to buy that one today lol? Or is it normally "on sale?"

I was looking at a cheaper one on Amazon for about $120 but if this is a good deal, I might do that. I looked at some comparisons on YouTube and the GoPro looked and sounded better.

Any reason to buy from GoPro direct vs Best Buy?

I’m tempted to pick it up today. I’d lose on the subscription discount but I haven't seen what it is on the 9.

I bought the Hero 9!

I wanted to try it out today but can’t find any micro sd cards locally. Best Buy was completely out and they told me to go to Walmart.

GoPro’s website has specific cards for the 10 and 11, specs for lower models. Walmart had some that seem to match up but I can’t find anything online that guarantees, one post actually said they had issues with one of the cards. Annoying. And it’s getting later in the day.

congrats. Hero 9 is like a Hero 10 but less the double frame rate, you be happy with it I am sure your local stores has sdxc cards good luck. and enjoy

Thanks. I forgot the exact one but I bought a SanDisk one at Walmart. It was a choice between that and Onn. It took some pics and recorded some video. Video was was at 4K60 HVEC. It looks like the only option I didn't turn up was the bitrate.
