I just received my new Hero Motorsports, and took a trip to the hills with my boys on a 90 minute ride through the woods on my Yamaha. I was quite disappointed when I got back, and found that it only recorded about 20 minutes. I understand the 4 GB filesize limitation, but the darned Hero2 recording light was blinking the whole time... so I thought it was still recording.

I just spent $450 on this thing and accessories, I simply expect it to keep recording. Is there anyway to tell if the device has stopped recording due to file size? Or better yet, tell it to create a new file and continue recording?

Thanks

I found this problem too but

I found this problem too but it turns out we have not lost anything. The camera keeps recording but creates a new file until it reaches 4GB when it starts another new file. It keeps doing this until the memory card is full. You will then need to use software such as Video Joiner to put these multiple files together to create a single video file.

The 4 GB file size is due to

The 4 GB file size is due to the fact that the HD Hero's use SD cards formatted in FAT32.
The FAT32 file system can hold files with a maximum of 4GB in size.

But like you mentioned, it will automatically generate a new file as needed.
