GoPro battery are not made by them, Nor the USB cable. We can not answer for GoPro, we can only offer our opinion. Battery is well protected behind a case, cell or cells go bad, storing the battery can not exceed 20 degrees Ferienheite, funny thing is camera produces 145 degrees and. Properly charging and discharging should be done, common i life is about 500 cycles every time you plug in with the cam the battery is getting a partial charge, decreasing the cycles Just my thoughts, why batteries may swell.
