grabbing photos from 4k / 5k videos is terrific!

i had a hero 7 but didn’t use it much. just got the 9 and i am super impressed. i will try changing some settings in photos, maybe try raw, but grabbing a frame from videos is worth the price of admission. the stabilization works amazingly. can’t see me using my gimbal much anymore.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Grabbing a picture from a video has not the high resolution as a photo it has only the 4K resolution, when the video is moving you also will get motion blur and no sharpness.
A photo has higher resolution and you can change shutter speed for more sharpness.

well i did something wrong because my photos in good outdoor light came out soft and just looked bad. on the other hand i got some sharp photo grabs. i think i had it set to superphoto. maybe that was the problem.

what lens and settings should i try? i think i was using Linear and Superphoto and that didn’t turn out too well. thank you for any help.

I am actually looking into a HERO9... how good are the photos? I would love to see some posted here!

I would need to see the photos, in order to answer your questions. :)
