When I use Capture on my Samsung Tab and I download stuff from my cam, can I direct to files to go to my tablets SD-card instead of the tablets memory where it currently end up ?

I think @WilleHard has a very good question, and I find it strange that no-one has answered him since his January post !?
There must be more people out there with the same request: How can you set the phone App (Android) to store footage on the SD card instead of in the internal memory?
I have yet to know anyone who has any significant amount of free memory left on their Android phone (if it is used for anything else beyond calling and texting). And no matter how much internal memory your phone has, it is still always full and everyday is a struggle to delete files in order to keep the phone running at all.
So whatever fancy GoPro App I try to use, it instantly reports "out-of-memory" and I am stuck!
I have not yet been able to figure out how to set these apps to store data on the SD card instead.

So, I see three possible explanations:

1. Either me and @WilleHard are the only two guys in the world with this problem!
2. Nobody knows what to answer, because they too have given up
3. GoPro doesn't know how to program such an obvious and easy feature into their apps.... (?)

The new GoPro (previous Capture, previous GoPro) app look promising but is pretty much useless if you can't configure where files go, same goes for Quik. I just sent a feedback about this to GoPro.

Hi,

I like what your trying to do with the new app but like Quik and the old app it pretty much useless if you can't configure where you want the apps to store files. I've got a pretty full phone and an half empty 128GB microSDXC card which I can't use to store the files. And even if I put the "raw" source files on my microSD card I can't open them in the apps.

Please add a configurable storage location the the apps so they become useful. Until then it's nice to remote control my cameras but a laptop is still needed for a quick edit.

Friendly regards,

You can't even move the app to the SD card like a lot of other apps can.

I actually never use the GoPro apps but 3rd party remote apps which work much better as a remote controle and remote monitor. Unlike the official app they do have continues live view during recording.

Maybe if enough users of devices with extra memory options complain to GoPro the will do something in a new version. I'ts not just the GoPro app, it's most apps. Just like WhatsApp, it would be nice if you could configure a data location also for incoming files, but thats an other forum ;-)

May I ask which 3rd party app you're using? I was surprised when my phone displayed "preview not available" when recording.
