So being as useless as talking to a go pro representative on the phone is due to having contradicting responses I need to know about auto recording from people who would know…. The users.
I am looking to buy 8x gopro11 minis for a job I am doing. I am placing them inside an underwater housing and want to power the go pro’s via an external power source (USB power bank). This power source will be switched on external to the housing. When this power is switched on I want the go pro to switch on and then automatically record. Is this possible?
One go pro representative said yes the other said no. So anyone got an answer?

Applying power via the USB-C port does not send any signal to the camera to startup and record. In fact, I don't think there is any USB-C accessory that can control the camera in this way......
Does not need to send a signal, it would just be setup in the go pro that when power is given it turns on and records. Seriously go pro should at least have this option in the menu somewhere. I can’t be hard to code this into the hardware.

The camera alone will not auto power on via the USB port and record, you’ll, like found out by goprolabs, and the App
QRControl.

read up buy one with a return policy and test out, if its not the way you like it, find another camera, the Mobius will auto power on via the Txt.doc of the camera, and setting up, in HD1080P, or the maxi in 4K.they are small cameras.

Hope you find and. Get the product you are after to do what you want, maybe later I’ll do a demonstration on the hero 8,
I have used the mobius and find the quality nowhere near the quality of go pro. I have used them subsea before, they are ok. I have just bought online a go pro 11 mini to test :)
