I am contemplating getting a Hero 7 Black to use on the front of my bike for races. I already have a Garmin outfront mount I plan to use with an adapter for the Hero 7 Black. I have set aside a massive microSD (400gb) to pick up along with a 10,000mAh external battery pack. Taking into account the Hero 7 Black can record 45-50 minutes using the include 1220 mAh battery in 4K60 recording mode (per GoPro), a 10,000 mAh external pack should be able to go for over 6 hours, which is as long as I would want to record for. Additionally the 400gb microSD is more than enough to caputre 6 hours of 4K60 video.
The main driver is can the unit physically do it? I have read plenty about the heat related issues and the shutoff functionality. I plan on removing the internal battery and only using the external battery for power to help remove heat up. Also, as I mentioned, I plan to mount the unit to the front of my bike so it will see plenty of ventilation. I am sure there are other settings I can change to minimize heat issue to keep the unit running to capture the entire race without shutting off.
Will this work? Has anyone done this, or similar first hand experiece?
TIA!!!
