How to attach battery charging cable while in frame provided

With the standard frame provided, it seems that is no way a charging cable can be attached whilst in use, e.g. I use Hero 3 / 4 in my car in looping mode, so I attach a charging cable all the time

Can anyone enlighten with this or I have to look for a new frame ( 3rd Party ?) to be able to do that?

cheers

The door covering the USB-C and HDMI ports can be removed from the thin steel pin that it is attached to. This will leave exposed both connection so not rain tight. It's the way I use mine most of the time. Just don't loose the small door.

or order third party frame like i did, that has opening that allows to charge without detaching the small doors. its cheap and efficient.

its around 5euros on gearbest and aliexpress

the GoPro frame does not allow this. the after market frames are not perfect but offer I suggest to remove the side port door, after awhile you'll loose it in those after market frames or break it.

Thanks for all of your inputs. My worry about removing the slide doors is the ability to put it back, and also without compromising the seals around the door for water tightness.

I'll also have a look at the third part frames, I used them for my Hero 4 and they work OK and is quite cheap to replace.

cheers

This was for the Hero 5, but is applicable to the Hero 6 and 7 also:

My door gave, Hinge wore out. seals will wear as well. and why they offer replacements. that is the chance you take on any product that parts should last and not break

Here is an extra 2500mAh as well. It's an option if you don't have the space for a larger power source.

Good luck,
