H7 questions

Hello, I am just about to upgrade from H6 to H7.
A couple of questions: can I shoot in super smooth, stabilized mode in 4k? (The H6 is not able to do)
And..in if it shoots in 4k, which codec does the record? In H.264 or H.265 (HEIC).

Thank you for the answer in advance.

Yes you can record in 4K60 with HyperSmooth enabled.

Bear in mind one of the main downsides to this camera is when shooting at this resolution although the camera battery will last around 45 mins, after around 30-35 mins the camera overheats and shuts down. Therefore its best used for shorter clips, allowing the camera a moment to cool a little between shots.

if you record in [email protected] its recorded in HEVC, [email protected] is the normal codec

I have my H7B set to HEVC for everything (including [email protected] and any other normally MP4 modes).

Don't do that unless your downstream devices (such as laptop for editing) are happy with HEVC / H.265 though.

Smaller file sizes, less compression degradation.

Hey Guys,

thanks for your info.... that with the overheating is very interesting to hear.... but I use it only for very short clips....... average 20-30 sec only.
What about the distortion problem?
As I remember "linear" on the H6 was only possible in 1080.
How is that solved in the H7?

As you can see in this informative video from Micbergsma the linear mode seems to go up 2.7K/60FPS supported with Hypersmooth.

Ciao Rob

And what about the panning problems at 4/K 60Fps ?
I heard this is the only mode where slow panning isn't smooth.
