Uh, mixed blessing???

So this says Gopro's vaunted Fusion is now discounted by $300 today! Does that mean that they are discontinuing efforts on the 360 front? That's what that kind of deep discount usually means when it's mid-year:

I watch sometimes YouTube vids and never saw 360 stuff of course you can search for it.
This 360 style, I guess the most people don't want it like the 3D televisions that is dead, new TVs has no more 3D function.

The whole thing is interesting at first look (oh it's fascinating) but on the second look it's like "yeah nice but I don't need/want it".
It was also at the beginning much to expensive, maybe with this price a few guys go with it.

Ciao Rob

Still would not make me want one. but the features that they offered in there were tempting. 3-D has been around for Decades, On Optimum they used to have say on CH 1000 a 3-D channel, no longer, been removed? I love my Samsung Gear 360 camera takes awesome JPEG Movies in 4K, and works perfect as people complained about over heating?

SO Yeah did it get discontinued in time, will tell.

added note. I like to keep to a universal editor that does it all. Lol.

Actually, 3D is the one that failed miserably. But 360 is gaining adherents. I don't think it will displace the regular wide angle action video format.

But note that in editing it allows you to produce the usual FOV videos from whatever angle you want. That alone is a major advantage. So even if you think the cute tiny planet and swooping POV effects are not a great feature after all (and many do like them to add interest to vids), the ability to choose your edited view from any angle while in focus and stabilized and high definition WILL be seen as an advantage. Especially as the cost of the cameras comes down, which they inevitably will do.

Gopro in Fusion had yet another tooooo expensive niche product with lots of flaws. Its quality was very high for a prosumer product, but apparently it was a bear to edit, while Insta360 OneX had it all and continues to evolve beautifully at a friendlier price point.

So I think that not only is the sale an indication of another failed Gopro venture, but I think it also acknowledges that there is a growing market for better more usable 360 than Gopro was funded or willing to pursue.

was going to say 3D's almost extinct in the UK, all of the major TV manufactures have ditched it. I'd love to get a 4k TV, but as I still do occasionally do 3D videos I'm not prepared to scrap it yet

i've also got a Fusion, my only issue with it is the computer power needed to render the videos. I can only record in 3.6k because my laptop can't cope lol
