Frustrated with remotes..help!

I record my motorcycle rides in and about the canyons here in Los Angeles and have since there were GoProís. My GoPro is mounted on the chin of my helmet. Because I wear fairly heavy gear; leathers, full face helmet, boots and gloves once Iím on the bike Iím fairly immobile (except for the ride). Compounding the problem is that in order to capture decent audio I have to use a pretty heavy windscreen on the GoPro which essentially masks the on/off, start/stop buttons. At that point a remote becomes paramount.

At this point Iíve spent years trying to come up with some remote solution that is even moderately consistent. Otherwise I find myself pulling over (canyons donít make for good pulling over stops). Removing all my gear. Removing the windscreen. Starting the GoPro, stretching yje windscreen back on and re-gearing up. A total pain in the butt. I Ďve tried two GoPro remotes, a Remo and now the application on two separate iPhones. All three pair just as they should pre-ride. Never ever a problem. Turn on, turn off, start, stop, I can get to the menus on the GoPro remote and in short itís rock solid, always rock solid......until I leave for the ride.

BUT.......time and time and time again when I get out to the canyons the remotes fail. Iíd say they fail 98% of the time. Either of the GoPro remotes just sit there and wonít communicate. I can see the GoPro remote trying to link up with the camera but it never does. The Remo never has worked, not once. The phone application starts asking for passwords and even if I do enter the password it fails. This frustrating behavior is now displayed across both my 5 and 6 which leads me to believe ďIĒ must be doing something wrong.

Thoughts and help appreciated

Never got a remote so no experience.
If you find a way to power the cam with your bike, maybe it can be a solution that you record all the time and pick later szenes you want.
Have you tried voice control?
Maybe your cam or remote needs firmware update or you can try a hard reset.
Good luck.

Welcome back to the Forums @Joseph Hanna Lets see if @code-red may offer you some info..

Is the RC the original from the Hero 2 era. or the latest, you mentioned you own the Remo as well. try like @Jatekman said.

Maybe you will also need to talk to Gorp they are open Mon-fri and can be reached via a phone call, best options if asked, let us all know how it goes. try reflashing firmware they say that can remedy the issue. I keep app obstructions clear for the best signal to and from the came to rc and app.

Interference from the engine is possible, and fixable if that is the case.
