GoPro shooting an 1882 Martini-Henry rifle with bayonet

Following on from my video posted here a couple of months ago of shooting a flintlock Sea Service pistol, here's my first effort using a GoPro camera with a rifle. It was easier with a pistol - it's tricky getting the angle right with a long gun to fit it all in the picture, but I think I cracked it after a couple of shoots where it didn't quite work. The views of the rifle have to be vertical because it's distorted horizontally, but luckily the vertical views with the camera close to the receiver look more dramatic anyway. For shooting I couldn't actually aim the rifle properly but had to have my head about three inches to the left. You'll note that there are six rounds shown at the beginning, but only five shots in the video - that's because with each round the recoil shook the camera a little further off my head, and with that sixth round it finally popped off - some dramatic footage, deleted!

The first little sequence showing the receiver and then the rounds was taken with a Panasonic Lumix G6 - a little wobbly as it's the first time I've used it, but I'm very impressed with the video it takes and will use it again like this for close-ups before the GoPro footage.

The You Tube description says a bit about how this relates to my novel Pharaoh.

My apologies - I've had to delete and re-upload this video because of a technical problem with the original upload to Youtube. I've decided to take the opportunity to splice in a little bit more material which I'll only be able to access in a couple of weeks' time, so I'll repost then when I've done the new upload.
