New to GoPro, where should I start?

Hello everyone recently I've been looking into cameras to record my travelling and I stumbled upon GoPro. I have another camera but battery life is terrible and the quality could be better.
Now I am absolutely clueless on the details of the camera specs and most reviews don't seem to answer my specific questions. I was hoping that this forum could be able to give me some insight before I make the final decision. (Keep in mind that I currently live in China and most prices for GoPros are 30-50% cheaper)

I will make a list, with 1 being the most desirable factor

1. Product lifespan: This is a huge deciding factor for me if I decide to buy a camera and it suddenly becomes broken or extremely obsolete that I would have to buy something new and I would prefer not to do that
2. Sturdiness: This camera that I buy will likely see a lot of wear and tear, a protected screen or replaceable parts is beneficial.
3. Battery life: Being a traveller in foreign countries over long periods of time battery life is absolutely essential. Without the aide of batteries I'm looking for the longest life possible
4. Video quality: This isn't as important but still something that is useful for my situation. As I will be vlogging and quality is quite important for something like that.

A recommendation doesn't even have to be a GoPro I would just like the communities opinion.

Welcome to the forum

1:GoPro comes out with a new GoPro every year so it's pretty much outdated after a year and previous year models are on the shelves so there are cheaper alternative.
2:the GoPro Hero 5 is pretty sturdy but every will have different use and some use can cause a lot of damage to a camera. The Hero5 does have replacement battery, battery door, and lens.
3:Hero5 can have good battery to bad battery life depending on what you do. With WiFi on and 4k30, battery life is about an hour. At 1080p60, it almost 2 hours.
4: at 2.7k60, the quality is really good.

Something to mention, if your vlogging, you might want to pick up a mic adapter ($50) and a mic for better audio.

Everything seems good, shame about the mic though, I can acquire the GoPro with ease but the mic is another story

i'm afraid process & advances in technology are always progressing. Plus being a competitive market new models are always being brought out by all manufactures. GoPro normally bring out a new model per year, they have confirmed we will be getting another this year

both the Hero 5 Black & Session are rubber coated, & GoPro are known for what you can put them through. The 5 Black does have a rear screen which has been known to crack. GoPro have never offered replaceable parts

you can get about 2hrs from either of the Hero 5's, they do have easy access to the USB socket so you can run from an external source. The 5 Session has a sealed in battery tho so can't be changed

both the Hero 5 Black & Session can do 4k@30fps
