External Power on Session Safe?

Hi: I often use my Session for a dashboard camera on interesting drives...Is it safe to plug the camera into a portable battery supply for longer life, i.e., time lapse on a long drive? (The door on the side of the Session for the charging cord will have to be open, obviously, but that should not be a problem inside of the vehicle)...
Thanks for the advice...

Steve

I use my Hero Session hours on end wit ha wasabi clutch. Door has to say open to access the USB cable port.

I yet to hear one say I bent my Session door

Options when using the session Wi-Fi on camera stays on and using the phone to capture the moment

when not using Wi-Fi the camera will be on cam will be unlimited charge,
camera will always be with power ready to go with no Wi-Fi

FISH

Dust I not a problem, water may be an issue to some but breaking the door is what you have to be careful about

I run my session plugged in to a USB/Lighter adapter in continuous video recording for hours outside my vehicle. Its held up pretty well. No noticeable difference in battery life when I run it without external power.

I am concerned in that the manual says to use 1.0 amp USB. My car ports are 3.8 Amp. Has anyone used USB with greater than 1 Amp. Usually this is the minimum rating not the maximum.

Camera will only draw 1 amp regardless of the higher rating.
