In my introduction I explained that my previous camera died on the way to a diving vacation, and I panicked and bought a Hero4 GoPro. When I say none of the computers I own will even play the clips back, I really mean none. I had no idea that the 4k setting for video would kill every computer I own, LOL. So, after posting for some ideas on a system that would work, I have an i7 laptop with a nice Nvidia graphics card on the way..... so, now for the question(s)....

With my previous hi def camera, i used a software from Sony called Vegas. I absolutely loved this software to create short vids with sound, and transitions, etc. I just looked, and found, the sticky that appears to have some VERY nice tutorials on how to use GoProStudio. I'm hoping that this will do the exact same things, allow me to edit the video clips, add transitions, put the whole thing to music, and render it into something that other, lesser computers can play. Is this true? If not, I guess I'll turn to Sony to see what updates they have for this really high def video.

Personally, I can't use Go Pro Studio. It's too cumbersome. I use Premiere Pro.

You need to try the software to see if you can get the results your looking for with it. What do you have to loose. Nothing because it's free!!

Also Sony sold off the Vegas software to MAGIX In May of 2016. You will find the latest versions of the software on the Magix site.

Thanks for the pointer to Magix. I looked at their site, there is only one place you can send them an email and it would not take any information until I registered... And, after registration, they tell me I can access their databases but I have to purchase a support voucher. Dammit, I hate it when they sell off a good product like Vegas. Before I proceed on I'll look at GoProStudio.
BTW, I plan to answer in my previous thread about the system that i was going to buy - it came in and wow, I'm a GoPro fan now!

I contacted Magix, they immediately replied and also verified my Vegas license is still valid! They also said that once I have a system that can handle the video, the version I have will most certainly handle 4k video from a GoPro. They were nice enough to even offer me a GREAT discount on the new version of Vegas, which I took advantage of. I purchased it online and it is on its way. I decided to not install the new version yet, because i want to create a project with my videos that I am seeing for the first time, using the Vegas that I'm already familiar with. With a significant discount, I cannot see that i could go wrong with the upgrade, even if I don't install it immediately. So, now I'm off to the races.... with excellent quality video, using my new snazzy system, and with my familiar Vegas tools.
BTW, I cannot say enough good about Magix. I expected to get some kind of runaround about my serial number, it has been a couple years since I purchased this version. They returned my email almost instantaneously, and with the gracious offer I already described. If you are looking to try some cool software, try Vegas - it is really easy to use, and has some really cool features for creating vids to music, with transitions, etc.

I am a Magix man love it and Very happy that Sony & Magix joined forces. I also have Vegas on my Sony Lap and was given a free for example from 12 to 12 upgrade. I wounder if I can pull off Sony vegas seriel and Dl to my Asus R-15.

it is a great software I agree but we all use what we love best.. I love Magix b/c I don't have to hunt for video and phots or add them in, they are in a root directory to simply use.

Happy Magix got to you, I think they are a Germany base company and worldwide I used them since Magix 12 ever since, always spot of.
