Trade HERO 5 for HERO 4 Black?

Have a HERO+LCD and wanted to upgrade. Was about to buy a HERO 4 Black when the HERO 5 was released, so bought the 5 instead. Although there are many things I love about the 5, some off the accessories of the 4 Black would work better for me.

Contacted GoPro and there is no way they Will trade or anything like that. So question is does anyone have a nearly new or new HERO 4 Black with some accessories that they'd want to trade for a HERO 5 with two extra batteries and a remote charger?

Use the frame given, no need to trade I see no difference in mounting, do you?

Have an extended battery for my HERO+LCD that I can do up to 8 hours of time lapse. Also have a customized rear case with a sealed USB power cable that allows me to use the camera with a USB power source and still be waterproof. Have done time lapse shoots that were over a week long. HERO 5 has no extended battery, no case that could be altered to do USB and be even weather proof. And the way the camera is built I doubt seriously an extended battery would ever be available. The HERO 4 Black has extended battery available and could be adapted like I did the HERO+LCD. The HERO 5 with time lapse, maybe 2 hours if I'm lucky and can't really change battery when doing time lapse. And we kayak and mountain bike, both of which we like to video, both of which last more than 2 hours. Not about to have to monitor if the battery died, stop what we're doing to change the battery let alone haul spare batteries along with us.

Mounting has nothing to do with it.

no help with your trade, but no the Hero5 doesn't have a rear port so no option for an extended battery. The only way for extended power at the minute is via the USB. I wouldn't be surprised if someone does a cable that plugs into the battery slot, but nothing yet

Hero 5 simply removr SIde door , and use the Port with a Powerbank the C type port accepts a Microphone, as well power, you can only go as far as teh 128Gb sdxc card allows.

I now understand that the Hero 5 does not have a 30 pin back port, for your puprposes, since gopro ws smart to remove it and go forward wit hthe Hero , we seem now to be again put backwards, getting all new stuff.

I suggest selling your Gopro hero 5 on Amazon, and invest in the Hero 4 Black, you will be happier, yes.

Hero 5 Black is a great cam with new accessories be slowly released.

Dug into this deep and can remove the side door but no way to make it waterproof or weather proof. Bought a couple extended batteries for my HERO+LCD and they came with the extended rear covers. Took one of the covers and bored a hole in one of them, put a long USB cable thru it and then siliconed the hole back shut water tight. So now I can put the camera outside and run it via USB for however long I want, including time lapse (60 second delay) for well over a week on a 64GB card. Accessories s-l-o-w-l-y released doesn't do me much good right now.

Actually had purchased and received a HERO 4 Black but a co-worker who also has a GoPro told me about the HERO 5 and a quick look made me ship it back and purchase the HERO5. Now that I found out about the lack of ability to do an extended battery I totally regret that decision. I am sure the HERO 5 will do the adventure video person a lot better than the HERO 4 but for what I want to do it doesn't cut the cake.

I understand that you wntto do timelapses and keep it waterproof. Today no the cover comes off, and modding will be the option to stop moisture entering. if the camera, or optional housing homemade or store bought? We have a section here maybe if you post up for a sale one will buy, you need to have a location in your profile? If you purcuased at gopro.com return it there you have 30 days, correct?

Have an option to trade my HERO 5 back in so before jumping to that direction wanted to make sure I don't make a hasty decision. So wanted to touch base with a few things that would be given up with the HERO 4.

First and foremost, image stabilization. How good is this with the HERO 5? Does it really stabilize as well as it's advertised? Are there some examples of this available to be seen between the HERO 4 Black and the HERO 5 Black?

Does anyone know how to purchase spare parts like the side door for the HERO 5? Was thinking I might be able to adapt a plug into a side door and make something somewhat weather proof to use a cobbled on battery or something like the Portable Power Pack.

And lastly, how long is the "normal" time frame when companies like Wasabi (Blue Nook) develop new things for a new model camera?

Thanks again for everyone's help.
