Hi! I've also recently bought a Hero 5 Session. Last time I was using it I captured in 1080p in 60fps. I hope this will allow me to do a few slow motions. Anyway I liked the footage and I didn't turned Protune on. Video stabilization is a nice option. As I was filming from my head I've noticed that my camera was pointing to much to the ground, so if use a helmet mount on the top of your gear make sure it points even unnaturally upwards if you'd like to show some views in front of you.

personally I have 2 general rules of to decide my setting.
  • If i intend to do slow motions with the footage, sacrifice the quality & go for highest frames per second
  • If footage is to be used at normal speed, go for the highest quality possible. This allows zooming & cropping during editing without losing quality

There are a couple of exceptions to this.
  • If unsure what your doing with the footage, compromise (2.7k@60fps is reasonable all round).
  • If on the Hero 5 Black/Session, you may have to go lower to activate Image Stabilization etc as they don't work in 4k

as an example. I currently use my Hero 4 Black on my drone at 4k@30fps, while the Hero 5 Black i use as a Dashcam is 2.7k@60fps to use Image Stabilization
