Question Extracting GPS data only from video

Hi,

Is there a software or a way to extract the GPS data from a captured video? soft of like having a separate layer that is transparent that contains only GPS info (ie the gauges)

I just had an idea in mind where I will be splitting the screen into 2 videos (2 views) and overlay the GPS stuff on top.

Hope my quick explanation makes sense.

Cheers!

Good day @spyghost Let me see what you are asking, you want just the GPS data only? Here is an alternitave if I had two gopro's or if I had repeated the same shot I go about it in the video I thought be helpful? Until there is a way gopro & quik releases that file info to us, otherwise we are forced now to use Quik for any gps guage info? try what I did and hope that helps out?

you don't need a second camera, i've got a free app called TrackAddict which will record the GPS data for you. Then just add/sync it to the GoPro video with DashWare

I find chroma key gets the job done nicely a great work around. if extracting is to hard to do or paid apps are not what one is after took me about three minutes or less to do a ten seconds worth of Gps guaage stuff .
@spyghost, hope the video helped you out some

I found a program called racerender that pulls the data direct from the GoPro video file and gives a lot of options. It looks promising.
